Tom Randall in the Philippines
Philippines December 30th, 2008April 2007 I made a trip to Lucena City with the Champions Tour chaplain, Tom Randall. He runs an orphanage, among other Christian endeavors, through the many contributions he receives from the players. I thought you may be interested in his current travels over there. His wife, Karen, is sending me updates. Here’s the most recent:
Dear Ones,
Tom called when this morning when I was out and he left a brief message. It sounds like he is doing just fine. They are in the south now on the island of Mindanao. The basketball team from CA arrived and they all flew south together on Monday. They have already played 4 games in 2 days and Tom said he had participated in the half time show each time. His shoulder was doing great, too, which he sounded happy about. He said he was even able to ride the little boy on his shoulders at the end of the show how he likes to do. I wasn’t too sure about that being a good thing. I still worry about that shoulder!
He also mentioned that he heard that besides the one policeman that was involved in the raid at Sankey last July that was shot dead a week or so ago a second policeman from that same group has been missing for 5 days. We don’t have any idea just what is going on with either of these incidents. It could be related and it might not be.
Tom is doing what he loves right now. He loves traveling with a basketball team still even though he doesn’t play anymore. He loves doing the half-time show and I know he was really sad when he thought he might not be able to even do that when his shoulder surgery turned out to be bigger than we originally thought. But God is good. He has healed, protected, blessed, and blessed again! Thank you for your prayers for Tom and for me, too. I have had some wonderful and encouraging messages from some of you and I wanted to thank you.
Tom and both wish you a Happy New Year!
Karen
