Our Buddy Steve
On the Bag: Farmers Insurance Open
San Diego may be a top tourist destination with Torrey Pines perched high on the public course list but it’s not a favorite stop for caddies. Over the years it’s been a tough walk in sloppy conditions and the temperature can be 40 degrees with howling winds along the South course coast while sunny and warm on the North course. It’s a tough place to pull a club and find a sprinkler head, they never bothered putting numbers on the heads and the circling winds, heavy air, and subtle elevation changes leave many Titleists great distances from the target.

He's Even Skinnier Now
John Daly is back: Lean & Mean Outside, Big Heart Inside
They wouldn’t let him in the Hawaiian Open pro-am party Tuesday night because nobody recognized him. He’s lost over a hundred pounds and rededicated himself, hopefully John sticks to it. He’s on his last leg, and at 44 years old his competitive years are not many. Watching the Hawaiian Open’s first two rounds made me realize what a draw JD is.

My Hero-Wish he was Around Today
A Fan’s Lament – The Fleecing of Sports Fans
Growing up in central Illinois I was a diehard Cubs fan, the Bears and Bulls were my favorites but I didn’t live and die with them. My first game was a 1969 Wrigley Field Cub-Cardinal doubleheader, Billy Williams Day, helping my hero celebrate his continuous game streak and watching him hit for the cycle in four straight at-bats. Whatever sport was in season my instincts followed but my heart was always with the Cubs and baseball. I couldn’t wait for my Sporting News subscription every Saturday morning; it was all about baseball back then.

The one who has drawn so many to golf, Tiger, has also chased a bunch of us away the last month. I’m oh, so, tired of his arrogance, hidden agenda, and misuse of America’s respect for him. I haven’t tuned into a golf program all week; baseball and football, even though it was lousy last weekend, have sated my sports fix. Hall of Fame inductions are tomorrow and among all the hallowed grounds of sports, Cooperstown is befitting the history of the game.

I originally received a copy of this same email on December 24th from Kaddy Korner follower Robert Behnke and a few others over the last week. I quess if Furman Bisher can publish it on his site, I can too. The rest of the story is from Furman and it is identical to the email I received the 24th. Read and believe what you want, pick apart what you want, and trash want you want. It’s plausible, possible, and doable these days.

Without them a player is almost lost and a caddy needs to learn that early in life. Without the wife in a caddy’s corner, his job is almost lost. You need to recognize who is the boss and pacify her whenever possible. It doesn’t take much, a bottle of water on a hot day, a short cut from the green to the next fairway, a local restaurant recommendation, and help loading the trunk on Sunday afternoon. Every once in awhile you may have to carry an extra umbrella for a hole or two and rarely do you catch a wife’s wrath, but it does happen.

No professional golfer ever wants to reach 80 on the course but I’m sure Arnold is happy he achieved this 80. What a life it has been. Here’s a little piece I posted earlier this year and thought I’d bring it out for his birthday.
“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening – and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind
has ever invented.” -Arnold Palmer

If Tiger did do it and blamed it on Stevie it wouldn’t be the first time. If Tiger didn’t do it and Stevie dropped the bomb that wouldn’t be the first time either. Farting in the fairways, or on the practice tee, maybe a tee box, or anywhere inside the ropes is a favorite pastime among players and caddies. It has never been safe to walk behind Steve in the fairway, and I’m surprised those boom mikes haven’t picked up the passing gas more often. The seven-second delay isn’t available and the mike techs are instructed to place that furry extension directly behind the caddies behind, luckily they are only there for the shot and not transfixed throughout the round.

Masters – A Caddie’s Day at Augusta National
Every day at Augusta is different, but they all start with a meandering walk from the parking lot behind the busy souvenir building to the caddy locker room. It feels like you are sneaking in the back door; maybe that is the plan. If you are lucky, have a house in the neighborhood, you can walk in off Berckman Road and avoid all the traffic. Augusta traffic is some of the worst on tour; paying an extra $500 a week for a house close by is definitely worth it.

Click Here! Golf Swing Made Easy for Beginners!!!!!
Ten years ago at Doral Stevie was working for Raymond Floyd. Rumors were flying on telecaddy, “Fluff was on his way out, Tiger’s looking for a new caddy.” Caddies don’t solicite Tiger’s bag, he comes looking for you. Nobody knew if the chatter was true, but we’d all give our left one to work for Tiger. Steve Williams and Raymond had been together for quite awhile, and were doing quite well on the Senior Tour back then. Why would Tiger want a Senior Tour caddy?
